Noecker leads local runners again

Posted in:

BEEMER — Carson Noecker continued his torrid pace last week, easily winning yet another individual cross country title.

The Cedar Catholic sophomore easily out-paced the field to beat runner-up Brandon Mitzel of West Point-Beemer.

Noecker helped the Hartington-Newcastle boys earn a second-place finish in the 14-team event.

HNS Coach Mandy Hochstein was pleased with the way the day turned out.

“Carson Noecker ran another great race. He is dedicated and runs quietly against his own time. He’s pretty amazing,” Hochstein said. “Riley Kuehn and Keegan Carl have begun their own competition between each other and it has given the whole team the push they need. Alan Santiago is right behind them, and I see him closing the gap soon. I’m excited for this boys team. They are young and learning what it takes to be successful and fast. They had some big shoes to fill with the graduating of last years seniors, but they are well on their way.”

The HNS girls did not field enough runners to compete as a team, but they still had some solid individual finishes as Sara Burbach took fifth and Makenzie Arens finished 13th. Jessica Opfer rounded things out with a 17th place finish.
