Noecker claims Summit League title

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State University men’s cross country team won its record-extending eighthstraight Summit League crown while also capturing multiple individual accolades at the league championships held recently at Edgebrook Golf Course in Brookings, S.D.

Leading the way for SDSU was freshman Carson Noecker, who claimed the individual crown, Championship MVP and Newcomer of the Championship awards. Noecker, a 2023 Cedar Catholic graduate and four-time Nebraska state champion, crossed the finish line well ahead of the second-place runner.

According to the league, he is the only male student-athlete to be crowned Championship MVP and Newcomer of the Championship at the same league meet since the creation of the awards. He is also the third consecutive Jackrabbit to win the MVP honor.

Noecker clocked a 24:17.2 to take the top spot in the 8k, finishing more than 20 seconds ahead of the rest of the fi eld.

Josh Becker was next for the Jackrabbits as he ran a 24: 51.3 for fifth place, followed directly by Daniel Burkhalter in sixth with a 24:53.1.
