New Jr. High School bowling team completes its first season

HARTINGTON — The Nebraska Coaches Association took over the bowling program this fall, and felt it was very important to add the Middle School students to the program to introduce them to the sport.

The Hartington program is open to the Hartington-Newcastle and Cedar Catholic and Holy Trinity students in grades five-eight. They could field as many teams as kids who signed up.

The Hartington team consisted of (Ben Kleinschmit, Langston Christensen, Castin Pinkelman, Tavious Pinkelman, Christian Fiscus and Barret Bruning. They are coached by Jeff Bruning and Nate Holan.  

These boys bowled in a different league.

The first meet was in Leopard Lanes, Bellevue, and the second meet was held at the Westbrook Lanes, Columbus. The State Bowling tournament was held  Feb. 8 in Fremont.

The young men had the same format of three individual games then the Baker format.   They were not able to proceed to the finals but some great games were bowled:

Ben Kleinschmit, 70, 114, 111 – 295 series; Christian Fiscus, 72, 55; Tavious Pinkelman, 75, 89; Barrett Bruning, 114, 142, 176 , 432 series; and Castin Pinkelman, 78, 84.

Coaches said they did a great job for their first year.

Other schools participating in the program include, Lexington Black and Orange; Papio A and B; Millard 1 and A; North Bend; Fremont White and Gold; Columbus White and Maroon; and Bellevue White and Purple.
