Nancy C. Pick

HARTINGTON — Nancy C. Pick, 75, Hartington, died Aug. 23, 2019, at the Arbor Care Centers, Hartington.

Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 26 at Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church, Bow Valley, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.

Burial was at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Bow Valley.

Visitation and a Vigil service were Sunday at Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church, Bow Valley, and continued Monday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Pallbearers were Jeremy Bottolfson, Jason Kvols, Bill Lauer, Bob Lauer, Tim Sutton and Eric Schulte.

Nancy Carole Pick was born July 12, 1944, in Obert, to Arthur Harvey and Daisy Marie (Mathers) Bottolfson. She grew up near Obert and graduated from Hartington High School in 1962. Nancy went to Norfolk Junior College for her teaching certificate. She taught at the Waukapani Country School and later at West Catholic Elementary School, Fordyce. Nancy married Donovan Roman Pick Nov. 25, 1967, in Hartington. She helped Donovan operate Don’s Hardware, Fordyce, for 30 years, until selling the store in 1999. They both retired to the Pick homestead farm near Bow Valley.

Nancy was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fordyce; Sacred Heart parish, Wynot; and then Sts. Peter & Paul parish, Bow Valley. She was a member of the Ladies Aide groups. Nancy was involved in the Bow Valley community play one year, which she really enjoyed. She loved to cook and bake for her family and friends, loved puzzles of all kinds, and taking trips with family and friends. Nancy always had multiple entries at the Cedar County Fair. She spent a lot of time with her mother and her sisters over the years, which have made for lasting memories.

Nancy is survived by her two daughters Tracy Lane, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Tonya (Quenton) Mortensen, Curtis; one granddaughter, Daisy Mortensen; three sisters, Betty Lauer, Hartington; Deanna (Dick) Rimel, Lincoln; and Judy (Jim) Kvols, Laurel; one brother Art (Cheryl) Bottolfson, Crofton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Art and Daisy Bottolfson; husband, Donovan, March 10, 2019, at the age of 74; son-in-law, John Lane; and a sister, Janet Sutton.
