Members sought for professional boards

LINCOLN — The State Board of Health is seeking members to serve on several health care boards.

Professional boards are responsible for granting license privileges to health care providers. Full terms are five years long and most run through Nov. 30, 2024, but there are also vacant partial terms available. The following boards have vacancies:

Board of Advanced Practice Registered Nurses – Nurse Practitioner

Board of Alcohol and Drug Counseling - Alcohol and Drug Counselor; Public

Board of Athletic Training – Athletic Trainer

Board of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology – Audiologist and Speech Language Pathologist; Public

Board of Chiropractic – Chiropractor; Public

Board of Cosmetology, Electrology, Esthetics, Nail Technology, and Body Art – Tanning Salon Owner; Nail Technician; Nail Technology or Esthetics Instructor

Board of Dentistry – Dental Hygienist; Dentist; Public

Board of Funeral Directing and Embalming – Funeral Director and Embalmer

Board of Hearing Instruments Specialists – Hearing Instrument Specialist

Board of Medical Nutrition Therapy – Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist

Board of Medical Radiography – Medical Radiologist

Board of Medicine and Surgery – Physician; Public

Board of Mental Health Practice – Certified Marriage and Family Therapist; Public

Board of Nursing – Licensed Practical Nurse Educator; Staff Nurse; Associate Degree or Diploma Nurse Educator

Board of Nursing Home Administration – Proprietary, College Faculty; and Nonprofit Home

Board of Optometry – Optometrist; Public

Board of Pharmacy – Pharmacist

Board of Physical Therapy – Physical Therapist; Public

Physician Assistant Committee – Supervising Physician; Physical Therapist; Public

Board of Podiatry – Podiatrist; Public

Board of Psychology - Psychologist; Public

Board of Registered Environmental Health Specialists – Environmental Health Specialist; Public

Board of Respiratory Care – Physician

Board of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery – Veterinarian; Public

Public member applicants must be 19 years old, be a resident of Nebraska for at least one year, must not hold an active credential in a profession subject to the Uniform Credentialing Act, must not be or have been employed by a facility subject to the Health Care Facility Act, and must not be the parent, child, spouse or household member of a person currently regulated by the board to which the appointment is being made.

Interviews will be conducted on Sept. 15 in Columbus. Applications must be received by Aug. 1.
