McGregor is re-elected as County Board Chairman

HARTINGTON — Dave McGregor was re-elected as the Cedar County Commission Chairman Jan. 14 during the County’s annual reorganizational meeting. Craig Bartels was reappointed as Vice Chairman. The County Board member appointments were then discussed with the following board appointments: Chris Tramp will represent the county for Region IV NorthStar Disabilities. Missouri River Advisory Group, and the National Scenic River District. Bartels will have responsibility for Region IV Mental Health and the Northeast Nebraska Public Health Board. McGregor will have responsibility for Landfill and Solid Waste, Transit Bus, Goldenrod Hills, HUD and Northeast Area on Aging. Motion was then made by Tramp and seconded by Bartels to retain the following appointments: Carla Schmidt as Road Superintendent and County Road Overseer; David Dowling as General Assistance Manager; Kevin Garvin as Emergency Management and Communications Director; Bob Hamilton as part-time emergency; David Sudbeck as part-time Weed Superintendent and Tim Goebel as Zoning Administrator. The Board also designated the Cedar County News, Laurel Advocate and the Randolph Times as the legal newspapers for Cedar County. A motion was also made by Bartels and seconded by Tramp to retain the current time and days for the regular meeting schedule set at the second and fourth Tuesday of each month starting at 8:30 a.m. in the Commission meeting room of the County Courthouse. Also on the agenda was discussion on the annual legal holidays the county will observe. Commissioners agreed the Courthouse will be closed for:

• New Year’s Day

• Martin Luther King Day

• Presidents Day

• Good Friday (one half day)

• Memorial Day

• Independence Day

• Labor Day

• Columbus Day,

• Veterans Day

• Thanksgiving

• Christmas Eve (one half day)

• Christmas

Motion was then made by Tramp and seconded by Bartels to set the mileage reimbursement rate at 58 cents per mile traveled doing county business as stated by the State Auditor’s office. The Board also unanimously approved the following bank depositories: Bank of Hartington; Citizens State Bank of Belden; First State Bank of Randolph; Security Bank of Laurel, Coleridge and Hartington; Farmers and Merchants State Bank of Hartington; Cedar Security Bank of Hartington, Fordyce and Wynot.
