Mary Elizabeth Kneifl

LAUREL — Mary Elizabeth Kneifl, 72, Laurel, formerly of Dixon, died Dec. 3, 2021, while a resident at Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel.

Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 7 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Jerry Conneally officiating.

A luncheon followed the Mass at the Dixon Community Center prior to burial. A family burial was at Calvary Cemetery, Newcastle.

Visitation was Tuesday, at church, until service time. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Pallbearers were Sarah Kneifl, John Kneifl, Ben Kneifl, Jason Kneifl, Kristin McDonald, Katie Olson, Emily Holstein, Eddie Remm and Austin Remm.

Honorary pallbearers were the Hillcrest Care Center staff.

Mary Elizabeth was born Sept. 5, 1949. She grew up in Dixon County and attended country school and Laurel High School. Mary helped raise her siblings, worked on the farm and babysat for all the children in the neighborhood. She loved cooking, enjoyed music of all kinds and family time. Mary lived on the same farm her entire life, where she loved to be. She had been a resident of Hillcrest since 2013.

Mary is survived by four siblings, Michael Kneifl, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Patrick Kneifl, Yankton, S.D.; Anne (Edward) Remm, Omaha; Ray (Sharon) Kneifl, Dixon; nine nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Ursula Kneifl.

Memorials may be directed to the Kneifl Family for a later designation.
