Marvin Oswald

WAYNE — Marvin Oswald, 88, Wayne, formerly of Allen, died Jan. 25, 2022, at the Kinship Pointe Assisted Living, Wayne.

Funeral Services were Jan. 28 at the Evangelical Free Church, Concord, with Pastor Todd Thelen, Pastor Scott Kahn and Pastor Dwight Oswald officiating.

Burial was at the Eastview Cemetery, Allen.

Visitation was Thursday at church and continued Friday morning one hour prior to services.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Kyle Oswald, Chad Oswald, Eric Oswald, Christopher Schoning, Zachary Schoning, Jared Schoning, B.J. Schoning, Joseph Schoning, Daniel Oswald, Jacob Oswald, Colton Oswald, Lukas Oswald and Nathan Oswald.

Honorary pallbearers were Marvin’s granddaughters, Ellie Diehm, Charis High, Charity Anderson, Faith Nichols, Amber Mattson and Lexi Curnyn.

Marvin was born Feb. 23, 1933, in Beemer, to Joseph R. and Anna (Oswald) Oswald. He attended country school thru the sixth grade and then graduated from Beemer Public School. Marvin married Eunice Joyce Roth Sept. 16, 1956, at the East Fairview Mennonite Church, Milford.

Marvin worked in trucking, hauling cars and cattle. He was a lifelong farmer until he began working for Waldbaum’s /Michael Foods in the 1980s, until he retired.

He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church, Concord, and taught the Senior Adult Group at church.

Marvin is survived by his six children and their spouses, Dwight (Jane) Oswald , Council Bluffs, Iowa; Dwaine (Barb) Oswald, Allen; Mary (Jeff) Schoning, Griswold, Iowa; Martin Oswald, Wakefield; Max (Lana) Oswald, Allen; Curtis (Dawn) Oswald, Allen; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother and spouse, Merle (Betty) Oswald, Beemer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eunice, Dec. 18, 2018, at the age of 81years; siblings, Ella (Joe) Ehrisman, Elmer (Deloris) Oswald, Deloris (John) Bellar, Marie (Harold) Eichelberger and Mildred (Vernon) White.
