Marvene Rose Sporleder

RANDOLPH — Marvene Rose Sporleder, 96, Randolph, died Feb. 14, 2019, at Colonial Manor, Randolph.

Visitation was Feb. 18 at St. John’s Lutheran Church until service time, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home, Randolph.

Funeral services were Feb. 18 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph, with Rev. Trudy J. Powell officiating.

Interment was in Randolph Cemetery, Randolph.

Pallbearers were Mike Sporleder, Joe Mikkelsen, Grant Mikkelsen, Lauren Wessel, Kent Kruger and Kevin Kruger.

Honorary Pallbearers were Mavene’s grandchildren, Jill Mikkelsen, Brianna Sporleder and Landon Sporleder.

Marvene was born Oct. 3, 1922, at her family’s farm in Pierce County, south of Randolph, to William and Amelia (Bauer) Kruger. She attended Pierce County district #60 rural school near Pierce. After school she assisted her mother at home. Marvene married Loyd Sporleder Oct. 4, 1943, in California. The couple farmed northeast of Pierce until 1953, when they moved to a farm in Wayne County near Hoskins until 1980, when the couple moved to Randolph. Marvene worked at Dale Electronics from 1973 until 1999, when she retired at 76 years old.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randolph. She loved making pies, her specialty being coconut cream pie, and she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving Marvene is her daughter-in-law, Gayle Sporleder, Randolph; one grandson, Mike Sporleder, Randolph; one granddaughter, Jill and Joe Mikkelsen, Hurley, S.D.; three great-grandchildren, Grant Mikkelsen, Hurley, S.D.; Brianna and Landon Sporleder, Randolph; one sister-in-law, Donna Kruger, Norfolk; several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Loyd, Dec. 24, 1986; and son, William, in 2007.
