Marjorie Jean Rastede

LAUREL — Marjorie Jean Rastede, 94, Laurel, died April 7, 2022, at the Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel.

A prayer service will be April 23, at 3 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Concord, with the Rev. William Bertrand officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, April 25, at 11 a.m.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 2-3 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Marjorie Jean Rastede was born March 23, 1928, in Wakefield, to Clarence and Helen (Olson) Pearson. Marge was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church, Wakefield. Marge attended school at Allen and Rose Hill Country School. She graduated from Allen High School in 1945. She taught in Country Schools for three years. Marge married Clarence Rastede June 6, 1948, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Concord. She was the organist at St. Paul for several years and also a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aide. Marge and Clarence lived and farmed east of Concord for 45 years and moved to Laurel in 1993.

Marge enjoyed their many vacations to Arizona and many other traveling adventures. She also enjoyed card games with neighbors and friends, and always loved visits from her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by six children and spouses, Nancy (Mike) Ptacek Mt. Vernon, Wash.; Barbara Escher, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Jon (Valerie) Rastede, Ashland, Mo.; Rex Rastede and Madonna Tanderup, Concord; Lesa Rastede (Thurman James), Martinez, Calif.; and Loree (Jerry) Echtenkamp, Wayne; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Maureen) Pearson, Lincoln; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence, 1998; two sisters, Alice (Verdel) Erwin, and Arlene “Suzie” (Marlin) Johnson; brother, Dean (Neva) Pearson; and nephew, Tom Erwin.
