Marilyn R. Rastede

Yankton, S.D. — Marilyn R. Rastede, 69, Yankton, S.D., died Nov. 11, 2019, at the Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton.

Funeral services were Nov. 15, Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with Rev. Amanda Talley officiating.

Burial was in the Hartington City Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and continued one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Pallbearers were Stefani Millie Grant, Todd Fluent, Troy Fluent, Ed Bottolfsen, Don Bottolfsen and Ellis Nelson.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Marilyn Rae Rastede was born March 23, 1950, in Hartington, to Otto and Alvera (Nelson) Klanderud. She grew up in the Obert area and graduated from Obert High School. After high school, Marilyn attended Wayne State College and received her bachelor of education degree. She taught at several schools in the surrounding area for over 40 years. While teaching, Marilyn took graduate classes at the University of South Dakota and received her master of education and library science degree. Marilyn married Tom Rastede July 7, 1991, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Laurel.

Marilyn enjoyed reading, watching movies, and taking care of her flower garden and lawn. She was involved in the National Education Association, the Nebraska State Education Association, and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington.

Marilyn is survived by her husband Tom Rastede, Yankton, S.D.; two sisters, Karen (Frank) Wosika, Barstow, Calif., and Elaine (Clyde) Millie, Sioux City, Iowa; brother, Mark (Val) Klanderud, Omaha; brother-in-law, Emmett Fluent; nieces, Annette Robinson, Stefani (John) Millie Grant, Tammy (Dave) Bogema, Dotty (Jim) Zelony; step niece, Danya (Chris) Banning; and nephews, Todd (Karla) Fluent, and Troy (Carol) Fluent.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Alvera Klanderud; father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Harvey and Dorothy Rastede; sisters-in-law, Patricia Fluent and Janice Schmitt.
