Margaret Frances Lentz

COLERIDGE — Margaret Frances Lentz, 87, Coleridge, died Oct. 17, 2023, at her residence while under Hospice care.

Funeral Services were Oct. 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cfeleridge, with the Rev. Marilyn Hasemann officiating.

Burial was at Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Coleridge.

Pallbearers were Tate Stolpe, Austen Roland, Dave Gubbels, Ron Jorgensen, Robert Kalin and Loren Paulsen.

Honorary pallbearers Were Margaret’s Caregivers.

Visitation was Sunday, at church, and continued Monday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge.

Services were also livestreamed at www. facebook.com/ImmanuelLutheranChurch(.'ulci'klge. live Margaret Frances was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Wayne, to Henry and Jessie (Burmester) Claus. She grew up on a farm south of Wayne and graduated from Wayne High School in 1954. She received her bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College in 1969 and her master’s degree in 1973. She first taught school at District 69, southwest of Wayne, for three years. Margaret married Richard Harrison Lentz June 9, 1957, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wayne. She then taught country school east of Hartington for six years, and taught first grade at Coleridge Elementary for 33 years. In total, Margaret devoted her life to education for 43 years. She was also elementary coordinator and committee chairperson for many years.

Margaret was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eastern Star and Delta Kappa Gamma. She loved bowling and was on several bowling leagues in Coleridge and then Laurel.

She enjoyed ceramics, making photo albums, word searches, and traveling with Richard. They were able to visit all 50 states by their 50th anniversary. They traveled to 14 countries in Europe, driving in nine of them. Margaret and Richard also enjoyed the cruises they took.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard, Coleridge; daughter Penny (Reed) Stolpe, Magnet; two grandsons, Sage and Tate Stolpe; three sisters, Maryann Langemeier, Farmington, Mo.; Jane (Art) Fryslie, Vienna, S.D.; Betty (Brent) Batten, Clearwater, Kan.; one brother, John (Kay) Claus, Columbus; brother-in-law, Milo Kocourek, Hastings; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Lentz; and sister, Joyce Kocourek.
