Lucy E. (Bermel) Mason

WAYNE - Lucy E. (Bermel) Mason, 95, died Dec. 2, 2020, at Wayne.

Her burial was Dec. 4 at a family graveside service in Laurel.

Lucy was born Oct. 13, 1925, at rural Hartington, to Marks and Ellen Bermel. She grew up on farms in Wayne and Cedar County. Lucy married Earl Mason, Laurel, June 23, 1946. She raised three sons Joe (Linda), Chamberlain, S.D.; Larry (Rose). Edgemont, S.D.; and Monty (Lucinda), Dixon. Earl and Lucy farmed north of Dixon throughout their lives.

Lucy was a member of the Dixon United Methodist Church for 50 years until the church closed. She then joined the Concord Evangelical Free Church, where she remained a member till her death. She lived out her profession of faith in Christ and the Grace of God.

She dearly loved family and all aspects of farming, esperially the cows, horses, hogs and cats. She enjoyed embroidery, sewing, quilting, cooking, canning, gardening and was an avid reader.

She was preceded in death by husband, Earl Mason; her parents, Marks and Ellen; beloved uncle, Bill; sisters, Margaret, Jenny, Mae; and brothers, Elmer, William, Marks and Earl.

Survivors are her sons, brother, Gilbert Bermel; granddaughters, Tammy and Nicole; grandson, Marvin; great-granddaughters, Trisha, Shelby, Audreona and Reilly; great-great-grandsons, Jackson, Jameson and Holton; and many nieces and nephews.
