Loretta Marie Bottolfsen

BEEMER — Loretta Marie Bottolfsen, 100, Beemer, formerly of Hartington, died May 11, 2020, at the St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa, West Point.

A public viewing was held one hour prior to services May 13, at church.

Mass of Christian Burial was May 13 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. Owen Korte officiating.

Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.

The funeral was limited to 100 people with proper face coverings required, and livestreamed at www.Facebook.com/ WintzRay/live Pallbearers were Evan Meiergerd, Mitchell Glause, Dawson Glause, Justin Sindelar, Jarett Sindelar and Brandon Sindelar.

Loretta was born March 11, 1920, on the family farm near Obert, to Joseph and Ethel (Gothier) Bergman. She attended school district #14 at Branch. Loretta worked at home and for people in Hartington. She married Herbert Bottolfsen Aug. 1, 1940, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington. The couple lived on the farm east of Hartington and later retired to Hartington.

Loretta was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Beemer. She was also a member of the Christian Mothers and Ministry of Praise at Holy Trinity Parish, Hartington.

Loretta is survived by a son, James (Lila) Bottolfsen, Wilbur; two daughters, Dianne (LeRoy) Meiergerd, Beemer, and Linda (Don) Retzlaff, Seward; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Nichols, Oregon, and Madeline Kruse, California.

She was preceded in death by twin infant sons, John and Joseph; husband, Herbert Bottolfsen; parents, Joseph and Ethel Bergman; brothers, Glenn and Dale Bergman; sisters, Laura Whitehorn and Lucile Jensen; and granddaughter, Jennifer Glover.
