Loral Gene Garrison

MOXEE, Wash. — Loral Gene Garrison, 84, died Aug. 28, 2019, due to a struggle with COPD.

Loral was born Nov. 16, 1934, on a farm outside of Laurel. He was the seventh of nine children born to Jess and Lina (Parker) Garrison. In 1939, the family moved into Laurel, where he attended Laurel Public School, graduating in 1953. After receiving two scholarships for high academic performance, he attended Wayne State College, Wayne, for two years. In 1955, the family moved to Washington, where Loral went to work for Stokley Van Camp in Zillah, along with his brothers Vic, Len and Ken. In February 1958, Loral was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he was stationed on the island of Okinawa, Japan. It was there that Loral met and fell in love with his little sweetheart, Kane Ota. She spoke only Japanese and he spoke only English, but Kane fell in love with his warm and gentle heart. They were married Aug. 3, 1959. They just recently celebrated 60 wonderful years together. Upon completion of his military service, Loral and Kane returned to the U.S., where Loral resumed his job at Stokley Van Camp. During that time, they were blessed with their two children, Melinda and Kalen. Loral later went to work for the Martin Marietta Aluminum Plant, Goldendale, Wash. He worked at the Aluminum Plant until its closing in 1985. From 1991 until 1996, he was employed at the Yakima Mall as a security officer.

The family very much enjoyed the Cinnabon cinnamon rolls their Dad would bring home almost every night.

He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports on TV, especially the Seattle Mariners. One of the greatest joys in his life was watching his son and grandchildren play sports. He was a very kind and loving man. He would never say a bad word about anyone. Not only was he a good person, Loral was also a wonderful husband, father and Papa.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Jess; mother, Lina; his brothers, George, Vic, Len, Coy and Ken; and by his sisters, Freda, Harriet and Nelda.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kane; his daughter, Melinda, and her husband, Dennis, and his son, Kalen and his wife, Donna; and ten beautiful grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
