Local wrestlers earn silver medals at Winside Invitational
WINSIDE — Cedar Catholic earned a seventh-place finish, while a trio of Cedar wrestlers earned silver medals at Saturday’s Winside Invitational.
Kerby Hochstein earned two pins to advance to the title match in the 132-pound division. He then dropped a 7-4 decision to Ponca’s Dalton Anderson in the gold medal match to settle for runner-up.
Connor Hochstein earned three pins to advance to the finals. He then lost by a technical fall in the 145-pound title match to Winside’s Gabe Escalante.
Keegan Carl earned a pair of pins before losing a 7-3 decision to Pender’s Layne Sturek in the title match.
