Local volleyball teams to play for State Saturday

LINCOLN — Both Hartington-Newcastle and Cedar Catholic volleyball teams will have a shot at making the Class D1 State Tournament.

The Lady Wildcats defeated Cedar in three straight sets Tuesday night in the SubDistrict title game to earn the automatic berth in Saturday's District title game.

Cedar earned the right to compete at Districts based on their NSAA Power Points.

The Lady Trojans will take on Elgin Public / Pope John at 1 p.m. Saturday in Pierce.

The Lady Wildcats will play at 4 p.m. in Wisner-Pilger against Fremont Bergan.

Wynot also advanced to the District title game in Class D2. The Lady Blue Devils will take on Exeter-Milligan at 11 a.m. Saturday in Schuyler.
