Local teams finish the season rated in the Top 10
HARTINGTON — Hartington schools accomplished a rare feat during this fall’s sports season.
Three of the town’s four varsity sports teams earned spots in the final ratings for football and volleyball.
The Wynot girls volleyball girls also finished the season in the Top 10.
Hartington-Newcastle, which beat Cedar Catholic in the SubDistrict title game, but lost in the District title game, was rated ahead of Cedar in the final Omaha World Herald Class D1 volleyball poll.
The Cedar girls bounced back from the SubDistrict loss to win the District title and advance to the State Tournament.
The Cedar Catholic football team did not start the season rated in the Top 10, but quickly worked its way on the elite lists and stayed in the Top 10 most of the season.
