Local runners earn medals at Wayne Invitational

WAYNE — The Hartington Newcastle boys and girls cross country teams finished second and third last week here.

The Wildcat boys had three medalists including champion Carson Noecker. Parker Albers finished 12th and Cole Rosener brought home a 15th-place medal.

Jessica Opfer took second place with a new personal record and freshman Ava Noecker medaled 14th for the Lady Wildcats.

Freshmen Carmen Buschkamp and Claire Rolfes were just out of the medals in 17th and 18th respectively.

“Both teams competed well, especially having run at Norfolk Catholic’s Invite on Friday and then at Wayne on Monday,” HNHS head coach Mandy Hochstein said.
