LAUREL — Lloyd L. Luedtke, 82, Laurel, died Feb. 4, 2023, at Hillcrest Care Center, Laurel.

The funeral service for Lloyd will be Feb. 10, at 10:30 a.m., at United Lutheran Church, Laurel. Pastor Matthew Quanbeck will be officiating.

Visitation will be Feb. 9, from 5-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at United Lutheran Church, Laurel.

Burial, with military honors, will be at the Laurel cemetery.

Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home, Wakefield, is overseeing the services.

Lloyd was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Wisner, to Herman and Evelyn (Rabe) Luedtke. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wisner. Lloyd attended Wisner Public School. He entered the United States Army Reserve, Aug. 20, 1962, where he served for six years. He married Sharyl Ann Longe March 5, 1962, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wayne. The couple made their home in Wisner for several years, before moving to a farm north of Wayne. In 1979, they moved into Laurel where they became members of United Lutheran Church. Early in his career, Lloyd worked at various feedlots near Wisner before farming on his own land. He later sold livestock feed as well as livestock water tanks for USA Tire, traveling throughout the Midwest.

He was an active member of the American Legion Post 54, serving as a Commander for many years. Lloyd was also a member of the Tri-State Tractor Club. He enjoyed tractor drives, farm shows, hunting, and traveling. Most of all, Lloyd enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids, great-grandkids and two cats.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sharyl Ann Luedtke, Laurel; son, Steve (Mitzi) Luedtke, Humphrey; daughter, Sheila (Todd) Heitman, South Sioux City; five grandchildren and their families, Tyler (Michaela) Heitman and their son, Luke; Justin (Katie) Heitman, and their children, Beckett and Thea; Jacob Luedtke, Cody Luedtke, and Krista Luedtke; and sister, Joleen Anderson, Wisner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Evelyn; daughter, Shelly Luedtke; father and mother-in-law, Erwin and Ferne Longe; sister, Marion Holland; brothers-in-law, Gail Anderson, Gene Holland, Dennis Longe; grandparents, aunts and uncles, and nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be directed to the family for future designation.
