LAUREL — Lily Marion Ellyson, 83, Laurel, died April 15, 2023, at Providence Medical Center, Wayne.

Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., April 29, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, near Concord, with the Rev. William Bertrand officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at the Laurel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Marion was born June 20, 1939, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Soren and Marie C. Hansen. She grew up on a farm outside Dixon, and graduated from Dixon High School in 1956. She had a year of business school in Minneapolis, Minn., at WITT. She worked for two years as a secretary in Sioux City, Iowa, for Staber Meats, then worked in Amarillo, Texas, as a secretary for John Morrell for two years. Marion then moved back to Laurel to help take care of her parents. She married Marvin Duane Ellyson May 7, 1959, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Laurel. Marion owned her own ceramics shop – Cedar Ceramics in Laurel. She was also an Avon representative for many years and a cook at the school. Marvin died Sept. 14, 2019, at the age of 83.

Marion is survived by her special friend and caregiver, Bob Harding, Laurel; daughter, Cynthia Mae (Lonnie) Johns, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; bonus daughter, Kim (Mark) Strathman, Randolph; grandchildren, Jennifer Peterson, Dixon; Tyler Ellyson, Kearney; Marclay Johns, Sioux Falls, S.D.; and Jessica Johns, New Brunswick, N.J.; great-grandson, Kage Peterson, Randolph; brother, Gordon (Harriet) Hansen, Dixon; and many nieces and nephews.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, Soren and Marie Hansen; son, Brian Ellyson, in 2012; brother, George Hansen; and sister, Elin Powers.
