Legion Seniors move to 7-10 on the year

HARTINGTON — The Hartington American Legion Senior baseball team now stands at 7-10 on the year, after several games these past few days.

Hartington swept a double-header with Randolph June 18, then earned a narrow win over Elk Point Jefferson June 21.

The local team dropped a tough 5-4 decision to visiting Beresford here Monday.

The local team got a good start on the week by earning a pair of big wins over Randolph, Tuesday.

In the opener, Hartington topped the Redbirds, 22-1, in five innings.

The home team batted around, putting 11 runs on the board in the first frame and put up six more over the next two frames, while holding Randolph scoreless through two innings.

Randolph finally got on the board in the third frame when Carter Schnoor singled to reach base, then stole second and swiped third. Keaton Backhaus then singled to drive him home.
