HARTINGTON — The youth wrestling program was started in 2005. Since then it has grown leaps and bounds. 2018 came with many changes including the name. Coach Cameron Schrempp, also new to the program, wanted something that would stand out. That’s exactly what these athletes did.
There were 46 wrestlers ranging from preschool to fifth grade that competed this year. The League of Heroes competed in 25 different meets spanning three states (Nebraska, South Dakota, and Iowa). The Heroes competed against all sizes of schools including Class A schools such as Norfolk, Yankton, Vermillion, and Columbus. The wrestlers had 80 first place finishes, 58 second places, and 42 third places won by various wrestlers, a huge victory for the program.
