LCC school enrollment falls by double digits

LAUREL — Laurel-Concord- Coleridge’s school enrollment decreased by double digits when compared with last year’s numbers.

The school district’s total enrollment which includes the elementary, middle school and high school stands at 392 students, compared to 416 at this time last year.

LCC Elementary brings in 150 students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade; the middle school, 103 students in grades five through eight; and and the high school, 139 students in grades nine through 12.

High school enrollment is up slightly compared to the 2022-23 academic year but the other two schools’ enrollment fell.

“We had a larger class graduate this past year and have a very small class of Kindergarten students this year,” said Superintendent Jeremy Christiansen. “Both our kindergarten and second grade classes are smaller than typical.”

There are 33 students in pre-kindergarten; 18 in kindergarten; 24 in first grade; 17 in second grade; 30 in third grade; 28 in fourth grade; 31 in fifth grade; 27 in sixth grade; 21 in seventh grade; 24 in eighth grade; 37 freshmen; 35 sophomores; 38 juniors and 29 seniors.
