LCC runners compete at Wayne

WAYNE — The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Bears and Lady Bears finished fifth and fourth Sept. 11 in their respective divisions at the Wayne Invitational at the Wayne Country Club.

The Lady Bears cross country team posted a total of 70 points while the Bears scored 82.

Pender won the girls division of the race with a perfect team score of 10 as the Lady Pendragons gathered in the top four individual spots in the field of 42 runners.

Wayne was second with 34; Hartington-Newcastle was third with 44 ahead of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.

Norfolk Catholic took the boys’ team title with 16 points, Wayne was second with 33, Pierce was third with 51 and Hartington-Newcastle was fourth with 75.

The LCC girls didn’t bring home any hardware, but had a pair of runners in the top 20.

Faith Galvin was the top Lady Bear finisher with a 12th-place showing. Kate Tasler placed 20th.

Jala Krusemark of Pender won the girls’ race, Medan Breitbarth of Pender was second and Kyla Krusemark was third.

The Lady Pendragons finished off a perfect team score when Hadley Walsh placed fourth.

The final two Lady Bear runners were Abbie Brummels just three spots behind Tasler in 23rd and Addie Hoeppner right behind her in 25th.

Tyler Olson paced the Bears, earning another medal. He has medaled in every meet throughout his senior campaign and placed seventh in this meet.

Preston Rose finished just out of the medals in 12th, Shane Langford ended up 41st, Taner Stanley placed 53rd and Dillion Sanderson was 62nd.

Both teams will be back in action Sept. 21 when they travel to Crofton for the Crofton Invitational.
