LCC girls finish with 1-2 mark at Shootout The while Hall added

WAYNE — The Lady Bears walked away from the talentlaiden Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout with a 1-2 record.

The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls opened the three-day post Holiday tourney with a tough one-point loss to Class C1 Arlington.

The Orange and Black trailed 14-11 early, but applied the defensive pressure in the second frame to outscore Arlington, 14-6, to take a 25-20 advantage into the halftime break.

The two teams traded baskets evenly to open the second half with the third quarter ending with LCC on top, 33-28.

Arlington rallied in the final frame to outscore LCC 11-5 and sneak away with the 39-38 win.

Erica Wolfgram and Delaney Ehlers powered the Bear offense with 12 points each.

WAYNE — Laurel-Concord-Coleridge took control early and never looked back in a 41-29 victory over Auburn in secondround action Saturday.

LCC outscored Auburn 22-12 in the middle two periods to take over the game,

Delaney Ehlers scored a game-high 17 points for LCC, while Kinsey Hall added nine points in the win.

Jocelyn Lambert led Auburn with nine points.

In the fifth-place game, Cedar Catholic handed the Lady Bears a 59-40 setback.

The Lady Trojans built a 12-point halftime advantage and then cruised in the second half for the 19-point win for the fifth-place plaque.

Kinsey Hall paced the Lady Bears with 14 points.

Brynn Wortmann hit eight 3-pointers and scored a tournament-high 30 points for the Lady Trojans.

Makenna Noecker added 14 points and Aiden Wortmann had 13.

The Lady Trojans took control almost from the opening tip, building a 17-9 first-quarter advantage.

The Lady Bears rebounded in the second frame to put up 14, but Cedar dropped in 18 of its own to take a 35-23 lead into the break.

The Hartington team outscored LCC 24-17 over the final 16 minutes to seal the win.
