Sheriff calls Aug. 5: Knox County advises about a welfare check request with a man who may be potentially suicidal and may be located in Cedar County at a relative’s house. Man found to be safe.

Medical alarm sounds at Saint Helena residence, false alarm.

Burn permit issued for Paul Leiting. Knox County relayed information about a vehicle crossing center line back and forth on Highway 121.

Woman reports using an ATM at a South Yankton location but her receipt indicates its from a completely different bank and didn’t dispense any money. Bank contacted, woman urged to visit the bank to have it straightened out.

Hit and run crash reported at Yankton free beach. Information passed on to Yankton Police Department. Officer investigates and found it not to be a crash but a “door ding.” Suspect identified.

Officer reports train crossing malfunctioning at Laurel in that the train is parked 100 yards away and is still setting off lights at crossing. BNSF Railroad contacted.

Burn permit issued for Aaron Walton. Two 911 calls come in regarding cows out near the Crofton Golfcourse on Highway 121.

Rescue unit called to Laurel residence for woman with medical issue, call canceled.

Dixon County relays information about a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 12 all over road and scraped another vehicle.

Rescue unit called to Laurel facility for man with medical issue, transported to Wayne hospital.

Man calls to report a domestic disturbance, officer investigates and gives two citations for disturbing the peace.

Two calls come in for cattle out near Highway 84.

Yankton County relays information that deputies discontinued a pursuit into Nebraska with a driver southbound on Highway 81. The reason for the stop was driving too slow and plate light out.

Aug. 7: Two calls come in for animals out near Highway 81 - one caller said it was two goats while another said it was cattle.

Man calls to report he will be transporting a family member to the hospital, speeding and with flashers on. A short time later, Bloomfield Police call to report a vehicle that fits that description and dispatch advises.

Man reports people speeding, provides pictures of license plates.

Woman reports identity theft. Burn permit issued for Chad Potts. Donkey reported out. Woman calls to report that she sold a vehicle but didn’t take off the plates and would like to retrieve them now. Officer able to retrieve plates off vehicle in Laurel.

Man calls to report a possible drunk driver in Hartington.

Cows reported out near Highway 84.

Aug. 8: Woman reports threats made.

Caller reports a vehicle in the river. 911 call made by mistake. Man reports a vehicle west of Laurel with flashers on and swerving, just about hit another vehicle.

Officers conduct traffic enforcement and give warnings for speeding in separate incidents.

Woman reports a vehicle with a dog inside and windows down about two inches.

Man reports suspicious vehicle. Rescue unit called to bridge south of Dixon for an accident with airbag deployment.

Nebraska State Patrol reports trooper following dirt bike northbound on Highway 81. Driver has no helmet and speeding, passing on shoulder.

Burn permit issued for Greg Lackas. Caller reports a man and woman intoxicated and yelling at each other near the Meridian Bridge. Officers respond, woman refuses medical treatment.

Aug. 9: Rescue unit called to Laurel facility for woman with medical issue, transported to Wayne hospital.

Burn permit issued for Brad Klug, Neil Hochstein, John Lammers, and Beau Simpson.

Randolph facility calls regarded Sex Offender Registry.

Man reports semi driving recklessly on Highway 81.

Sioux City, Iowa, facility calls regarding a patient who did not show up for medical treatment, man located and found to be deceased.

Woman reports receiving threats on her phone.

Caller reports two-vehicle accident with no injuries.

911 call comes in, officer checks it out, Laurel resident had put medical alert button through the washing machine.

Woman reports striking a calf with her vehicle.

Aug. 10: Woman reports seeing an individual take off with her pickup out of her own driveway. Within five minutes, the truck was back in the driveway but woman did not see who had taken it. Deputy checks area around home and doesn’t find anyone or anything suspicious.

Burn permit issued for Terry Gowery, Mike Uhing and Mark Lute.

Deputy investigates theft of pivot writing on seven towers.

911 call made by mistake. 911 call comes in for a report of a reckless driver into Hartington, provides license plate, driver reportedly goes over the line, stops and then starts driving again. The vehicle pulled into the Bomgaars parking lot with driver falling asleep at the wheel.

Deputy serves a protection order. Rescue unit called to Coleridge residence for woman with medical issue, transported to Yankton, S.D., hospital.

Aug. 11: Three 911 calls made by mistake.

Knox County transfers a 911 call. Woman reports vandalism to a vehicle.

Man reports neighbor’s dogs barking. 911 call comes in to the report of a reckless driver northbound on Highway 81, “all over the road, speeds up, slows down.”

Officers conduct traffic enforcement and give warning for speeding and citation for speeding in separate incidents. During one of the stops, an officer found a small amount of marijuana which was confiscated and destroyed.

Aug. 12: Officer checks on a downed light pole near a Laurel business.

Controlled burn begins east of Belden. Woman calls and reports she is having trouble contacting an individual regarding a family member in the hospital. Dispatch is able to relay a message and the two people connect.

Woman reports her car won’t start. Dispatch offers to provide a phone number for a tow truck.

Caller reports a driver threw coffee at a vehicle near St. Helena.

Three 911 call made by mistake. Burn permit issued for Brian Haisch and Gordon Younker.

Woman reports an abandoned vehicle at a south Yankton business.

Knox County relays information about a confused, elderly man asking for directions near Wausa.

Coleridge facility reports a potential prank caller and provides phone number he is calling from. Officers asks if the phone number can be blocked.

One-vehicle rollover reported, no injuries.

Woman reports locking the keys inside her vehicle with it running. Dispatch is able to provide phone numbers for locksmiths in the area.

Rescue unit called to Bow Valley facility for man with medical issue, no transport.

Rescue unit called to Randolph residence for man with medical issue, transported to Norfolk hospital.

911 call comes in to report an intoxicated man trying to start fights, will be leaving and driving drunk.

Rescue crews request law enforcement backup for any future calls to Bow Valley facility.

Man reports a pickup on side of the road and people drinking alcohol in the ditch off the highway.

Man reports damage to his window, claims it was his neighbor.

Aug. 13: Man reports a vehicle hitting his mailbox and the vehicle in the ditch. Nebraska State Patrol respond. Property owner will be given driver’s insurance information.

Yankton Police relay information about a deceased South Dakota man found near the dam.

Woman calls to report she locked both sets of vehicle keys in her vehicle. Phone numbers to locksmiths provided.

Man reports a driver with left foot hanging out the window and vehicle having trouble staying in the lane.

EMTs called to a Randolph residence for a lift assist, no transport.

Multiple calls come in to the report of a woman with a baby along Highway 81.
