Lavern John Beierman

Oakland — Lavern John Beierman, 90, died Feb. 1, 2020, at Oakland Heights, Oakland. His remains will be interned at Fort McPherson, Maxwell, at a later date.  

Lavern was born Aug. 30, 1929, the third of three children to Clem and Catherine (Kurtenbach) Beierman in Petersburg. Lavern received his education at Petersburg, Primrose, Loretto, Raeville and Osmond. He enlisted into the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served honorably for 30 years, retiring as a master gunnery sergeant. He served in California, North Carolina, Japan, Korea and three tours in Vietnam. After retirement, he spent his remaining years in California and Osmond, and most recently at Colonial Estates, Randolph, and Oakland Heights, Oakland.  

He is proceeded in death by his parents; older brother, Harold; brother-in-law, Myron Kersting; and many good military friends.  

He is survived by sister, Blanche Kersting; and nephews, Jim and Gary, all of Michigan; good friend and classmate, Betty Kohl, Las Vegas, Nev.; and especially good friends and caregivers, Clint and Amie Clausen, Blair.
