Lane replaces Barrett for Sunday night show

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — The Cedar County Fair Board has been forced to make a last-minute change in its 2021 entertainment line-up.

Sunday night headliner Gabby Barrett has cancelled much of her touring schedule after coming down with pneumonia, Cedar County Fair Board President Greg Heine said.

Upon learning of the decision Tuesday, Heine spent much of the next two days on the phone trying to line up a new entertainer.

His hard work paid off, as Chris Lane has been booked to take the Sunday night slot at the Cedar County Fairgrounds.

"It was a lot of work, and a lot of phone calls, but it was worth it," Heine said.

Lane performed at the Cedar County Fair a few years ago.

"He was a real crowd-pleaser," Heine said. "He brings a lot of talent to the stage. I'm sure people will love to see him again.

Even though he hasn't been recording and touring that long, Lane has already produced three number-one songs.

His song "Big, Big plans," hit number one on the charts in 2019. Prior to that he hit the top of the charts with Fix," and "I Don't Know About You."

Lane was nominated for the ACM New Country Artist of the Year award in 2017.

Those who purchased tickets online who would like a refund should contact Etix.

Those who purchased tickets locally and wish to have a refund should come to the Cedar County Fair Office, which opens at 1 p.m. each day. Season passes will not be refunded.

All Gabby Barrett tickets will be valid for the concert.
