Lamont R. Hangman

LAUREL — Lamont R. Hangman, 72,Laurel, died Feb. 19, 2022, at his residence, surrounded by his loved ones.

Funeral Services will be Feb. 25, at 2 p.m., at the United Lutheran Church, Laurel, with the Rev. Matthew Quanbeck officiating.

Burial will be at the Lime Creek Cemetery, Maskell.

Visitation will be Thursday, at church, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, one hour prior to services at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Pallbearers will be Lamont’s grandsons, Joshua Hangman, Zachary Hangman, Mitchell Hangman, Jonathon Mullen, Matthew Mullen, Austin Gothier, Isaac Gothier, Aaron Gothier, Kyler Hangman, Nate Langford, Eric Langford, Shane Langford, Jericho Langford Jr., Dennis Gothier and Daniel Hangman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Lamont’s grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.

Lamont Robert was born Dec. 19, 1949, in Maskell, to Arden Avery and Ina Amelia (Newton) Hangman. He grew up in the Maskell area and graduated from Kellbert High School in Maskell. Lamont began working for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads, and became a supervisor in 1985, and moved his family to Laurel. Lamont also farmed during this time up until 1985. Lamont married Clarice Ann Rasmussen, the love of his life, Feb. 8, 1968, in Ponca, and together they had seven children.

Lamont was a former member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Maskell, and a current member of the United Lutheran Church, Laurel.

Lamont enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening.

He also liked spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to the casinos and traveling to Texas.

Lamont is survived by his seven children, Mary Hangman, Omaha; Marsha (Paul) Meier, Concord; Robert (Mari) Hangman, Omaha; Sherri (Jeff) Brown, McKinney, Texas; Donna Hangman, Laurel; Jason (Valerie) Hangman, Laurel; Kristin (Jericho) Langford, Laurel; 29 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Odin “Shorty” (Sheryl) Hangman, Hartington; Calvin Hangman, Mart, Texas; two sisters, Patricia (Doyle) Anderson, Harrison; Tina (Jack) Penn, Warren, Ohio; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Francis Dowling, Wallace; Ray (Doris) Hintz, Newcastle; sisters-in-law, Judy Heikes, Hartington, and Sandra (Gordon) Hamilton, Obert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Clarice, Sept. 8, 2019, at the age of 70; two granddaughters, Kylie Brown and Amelia Hangman; siblings, Diann Dowling; Rodney and wife, Barb Hangman; and Tim Hangman; brothers-in-law, Stuart Heikes and Raymond Rasmussen; and sister-in-law, Patricia Hintz.
