Lady Trojans earn a pair of wins in final regular season games

HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans won their final two regular season games of the season, but came up short in their first MidState Conference Tournament game.

Cedar swept Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 Tuesday night.

The Lady Trojans used solid serving to keep the Bears off balance. Cedar had 14 ace serves in the contest, led by Cady Uttecht’s six aces.

Cedar then had to battle toe to toe with Boone Central in the final home match of the season Thursday, finally winning a five-set thriller.

Laney Kathol had the hot hand at the net against the Lady Cards as she slammed home a team-high 20 kills in the contest. She also went up for five ace blocks. The service line once again proved to be an asset for Cedar as the Lady Trojans fired 11 ace serves over the net. Uttecht once again led the team in serving with six aces.

Cedar took on Wayne in the first round of the MidStates Tournament Monday, falling 25-11, 25- 9, 25-18. No stats were available from this contest at press time.
