Lady Devils cruise past N-V, move to 9-4

WYNOT — On Tuesday night the Wynot Lady Blue Devils hosted the Lady Cougars of NiobraraVerdigre.

Wynot built an 18-point first half cushion and made it stand up in the second half as they earned the 53-40 non-conference win.

Wynot was led by Karley Heimes’ double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Edyn Sudbeck and Autumn Lawson each netted 10 points to help the Lady Blue Devils to the win.

For Niobrara-Verdigre Josilyn Miller had a big game leading all scorers with a 23-point performance. Bree Breithaupt finished with seven points and lead her team with five rebounds.

Edyn Sudbeck dumped in six quick points in the opening quarter and Kendra Pinkelman added three points as Wynot raced to a 13-8 early lead. Josilyn Miller had all eight Niobrara-Verdigre points in the quarter.

It was raining threes for Wynot in the second quarter. Krystal Sudbeck, Emersyn Sudbeck, Edyn Sudbeck and Autumn Lawson all hit from behind the arc for the Lady Devils.

Niobrara-Verdigre got a bucket each from Miller and Bree Breithaupt as Wynot built a 30-12 halftime lead.

The Lady Cougars would find some offense after halftime. In the third period Josilyn Miller poured in six more points and Bree Brethaupt drained a 3-pointer. Wynot would hold them off thanks in part to four points each by Autumn Lawson and Karley Heimes and the three pointer by Kendra Pinkelman.

Wynot got four points from Emersyn Sudbeck and three more points from Karley Heimes. The Lady Cougars would gain some ground with seven more points by Josilyn Miller and some good free throw shooting but this game had been decided earlier as Wynot earned the 53-40 win.
