Lady Cats down West Holt in rescheduled tourney game

Posted in:

HARTINGTON — Defense dominated in last Monday’s HNS and West Holt Stanton Tournament make-up game.

The Hartington-Newcastle girls and Lady Huskies ended the first quarter of play all knotted at 4-4. West Holt snuck out a 7-6 second quarter advantage, but the Lady Cats controlled the final 16 minutes to earn the five-point win.

Cold shooting helped lead to the low scoring. HNS only managed 4-19 field goal attempts and 5-20 from long distance, while connecting on 10-28 free throws.

Wildcat senior Abbe Morten once again paced the Purple and White, knocking down 12 counters. She also yanked down eight rebounds.

Kayden Jueden led the team on the boards, pulling down 12 on the night. She also led the team in assists, dishing out four in the contest.

The Lady Wildcats will once again be in action Friday night when the Homer Lady Knights come to Hartington for a Lewis and Clark Conference game.
