Lady Blue Devils down Creighton and Winside

CREIGHTON – The Wynot Lady Blue Devils volleyball team picked up a pair of Lewis and Clark Conference wins last week.

The Lady Blue Devils swept Creighton in three straight sets Thursday to improve to 5-1 on the season. Last Tuesday, they defeated Winside on the road.

Wynot seemed to be cruising toward an easy win Thursday as it took set one 25-19 and set two 25-12, but the Lady Bulldogs came to life in the third and final set, but the Lady Blue Devils outlasted them, 31-29.

Allison Wieseler had a great game at the net, slamming down 14 winners and coming away with a block.

Kinslee Heimes and Kayla Pinkelman each added seven kills while Kenna Oligmueller came up with five.

Sophia Geisen got the attack started with 28 set assists and recorded a double-double with 11 digs.

The Lady Blue Devils had six ace serves on the night, including three by Heimes and one each from Sophia Geisen, Courtney Pinkelman and Sudbeck.

Heimes had four blocks at the net and added 21 digs; Pinkelman came through with three and had 26 digs in the match.

Myrah Sudbeck had 24 digs, Oligmueller had 15 and Jaylin Geisen hit double-digits with 10.

Wynot only needed three sets last Tuesday at Winside to earn the victory over the Lady Wildcats.

The Lady Blue Devils had little trouble in coming away with a 25-8, 25-21 and 25-18 win over Winside.

Kayla Pinkelman had a huge game at the net, swinging for 20 kills in the match. Wieseler added seven.

Courtney Pinkelman had three ace serves and Sophia Geisen tipped up 30 set assists. Kinslee Heimes had 19 digs.

Wynot was set to take on Bloomfield on Sept. 12 at home before welcoming in Hartington-Newcastle on Sept. 14.

The Queen Bees came in with a 4-4 record while the Lady Wildcats were sitting at 5-5 when the week began.

Wynot defeats Creighton 25-19, 25-12, 31-29.
