WAYNE — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears golf team missed a second-straight trip to the Class C State Golf Championships this week, coming in one spot out of the top three teams at the C-3 District Golf Tournament held on Oct. 4 at Wayne Country Club.

The Lady Bears shot a team total of 414, six strokes out of third place, which would have made them an automatic qualifier.

Wayne won the meet with a 390, West Holt was second at 395 and O’Neill came in third with a 408.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge sophomore Holly Patefield did grab a State pass to North Platte after she tied for 10th as an individual with a 101 along with two other players.

Joslyn Johnson of Wayne won a playoff with Kaylin Gaughenbaugh of O’Neill on the second hole to take the top spot after both carded an 85.

Rylee Altwine of Pierce was third with a 91 and won a playoff with Delani Knust of West Holt, who ended up fourth.

All five Lady Bears finished in the top 25 of the 65-player event. Skylar Swanson missed a trip southwest by just two shots, placing 14th with a 103.

Harper Bruning was 19th and Clara Brummels was 21st after both fired a 105 and Rebeka Lipp was 24th after recording a 110.
