Lady Bears finish third on Hartington golf course

HARTINGTON — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge girls’ golf team played to a third-place finish in the team standings in the Cedar Catholic Invitational Sept. 18 at the Hartington Golf Club with a total of 436, just a couple of strokes away from the runner-up trophy.

Wayne ran away with the team title, grabbing the top three spots individually and placing four golfers in the top five while compiling a 381 over 18 holes.

The Cedar Catholic JV team was second at 434, followed by the Lady Bears and Cedar Catholic varsity squad at 436.

The LCC JV team placed eighth in the 12-team tournament.

Holly Patefield prevented the Lady Blue Devils from taking the top four spots as she brought home the fourth-place medal with a 97.

Carli Carnham of Wayne shot a 93 to take the top prize, Joslyn Johnson of Wayne was second at 95 and Charli Sievers of Wayne was third, also at 95.

Lady Bear Danica Gould was 14th after firing a 110 along with teammate Beka Lipp, which was good enough for 14th and 15th, respectively, after a scorecard playoff.

Harper Bruning came in with a 119 and Clara Brummels shot a 121.

Abby Lipp led the LCC JV with a 128, Stella Kock shot a 132, Mavis Jonas recorded a 139 and Faith Urwiler earned a 148.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge will head to the Wayne Invitational on Sept. 21 before hosting the LCC Invite on Sept. 23.
