Kuehn is crowned as the 2021 MidStates Conference golf champion

Posted in:

NORFOLK — Riley Kuehn carded a 70 to earn the MidStates Conference Individual golf title here Saturday.

Kuehn’s closest competitor was Hunter Raabe of Pierce, who finished nine strokes back with a 79.

As a team, Cedar finished third in a tight three-team race.

Pierce took the team title with a 335, while Battle Creek was second with a 337. The Trojans trailed with a 340.

Mack Kuehn had the next best Cedar outing on the day by firing an 85 to finish in 11th place. Cazden Christensen was next with a 92. He was followed by Carsen Becker, who came in with a 93. Kurtis Kathol finished out with a 98 to close out the scoring for Cedar.

The Conference match wound up a very busy week for local golfers.

Cedar competed in and won the O’Neill Invitational on Thursday. The Cedar JV team also competed in its own MidStates Conference meet, winning that event by a large margin.

That busy schedule continues this week as the Trojans competed Monday in Plainview and were in the Hartington Invitational Tuesday at the Hartington Golf Club. The golf team wraps up the week when they compete at Pierce on Saturday, May 1.

Postseason begins Monday, May 17 at Fairplay Golf Course in Norfolk.
