Kirk Eugene Flom

SOLON, Iowa — Kirk Eugene Flom, 50, Solon, Iowa, died Nov. 15, 2018, in an automobile accident near Solon.

Visitation was Nov. 20 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and will begin one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Funeral Services will be Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with Rev. Amanda Talley officiating.

Burial will be in the Lawn Ridge Cemetery, Coleridge.

Pallbearers will be Ron Brodersen, Louis Guy, Elijah Horn, Hunter Wilson, Gary Kuchta, Elmer Becker, Kevin Schindler and Bruce Simmons.

Kirk was born March 1, 1968, in Osmond, to Harold Cornelius and Donna Mae (Brodersen) Flom. He grew up in the Coleridge area and was baptized and confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Coleridge. Kirk graduated from the Coleridge High School in 1986 and from Midland College, Fremont, with a degree in business management. Kirk married Lori Cook July 4, 1998, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was the general manager of several motel chains, which required him to move and live in various communities throughout the United States. Kirk had lived in Solon since 2011, and was a customer service agent in a call center in Coralville, Iowa.

Kirk loved playing poker and won several trophies in tournaments. He was a big fan of March Madness and loved to watch the Nebraska Cornhuskers play football and basketball.

Kirk is survived by his mother, Donna Flom, Hartington; a sister, Susan Wilson, Des Moines, Iowa; a niece, Shanna and Jarvis Horn, Blue Springs, Mo.; a nephew, David and Megan Wilson, Jesup, Ga.; and several great-nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold, in 1985, at the age of 55, and a sister, Sharol Flom, in 2008.
