Keiser decides to become a Wayne State Wildcat

HARTINGTON — One of Cedar Catholic’s all-time leading ground gainers will continue his football career next fall at Wayne State College.

Jacob Keiser signed a letter of intent Friday to walk on at Wayne State College. He will join Cedar teammate Rex Becker on the Wildcat team

Despite having to battle injuries his final two years of high school, Keiser finished his prep career as the second leading rusher in school history, gaining 4.407 yards on 569 carries for an average of 7.7 yards per carry.

Keiser will play for new Wayne State College head coach John McMenamin. McMenamin was introduced in December as the schools’ 22nd head football coach in the 103-year history of the program.

McMenamin replaces Dan McLaughlin,

McMenamin replaces Dan McLaughlin, who announced his retirement in November after 15 years on the Wildcat sidelines.

McMenamin is a former Wildcat assistant coach who spent the last five seasons as offensive coordinator at Central Missouri where he turned the Mules into an offensive juggernaut, ranking as one of the top offenses in NCAA Division II.

In his five years at Central Missouri, McMenamin helped the Mules to a 42-17 record with two NCAA Division II playoff appearances.

Under McMenamin in 2019, Central Missouri had the top ranked offense in NCAA Division II averaging 547.5 yards per game.
