DIXON — Kathleen Ann Garvin, 76, Dixon, died Nov. 9, 2021, at MercyOne Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 15 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Dixon, with the Rev. Jerry Connealy officiating.

Burial of her cremated remains was at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Dixon. Visitation and a Vigil Service were Sunday at church, and Monday one hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Laurel.

Honorary pallbearers were her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Kathleen Ann was born Jan. 16, 1945, in Laurel, to Leo and Fern (Cleveland) Garvin. She grew up in the Dixon area and attended elementary school in Dixon, and graduated from Assumption Academy High School, Norfolk. She went to college in Minnesota and Detroit, Mich., and received her master’s degree in psychology. She devoted her life to spiritual and mental health. Kathleen lived in New Hampshire, Boston, Lincoln, Iowa City, and South Sioux City. She eventually moved back to Dixon, to help her sister, MaryLee, care for their mother, Fern. She would then move in with Mary Lee in Dixon until her death.

Kathleen was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. She loved dogs, flowers, herbs, family and friends, and a good card game. She always was up to a good prank or joke.

Kathleen is survived by her sister, MaryLee Jensen, Dixon; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Tom (Juanita “Jenny”) Garvin; brother-in-law, Norman Jensen; nieces, Teresa Garvin and Sharon Jensen Freeman; and nephew, Monte Jensen.
