Joseph M. Tramp III

CROFTON — Joseph M. Tramp III, 76, Crofton, died Feb. 14, 2023, as a result of a semi accident near Beresford, S.D.

Mass of Christian Burial was Feb. 21 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.

Burial was at St. Boniface Cemetery, Menominee, with military honors by the Crofton American Legion Post #128.

Pallbearers were Cassie Mueller, Preston Mueller, Joey Tramp, Krissy Kumm, Max Tramp, JT Allen and Dylan Potts.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob Eickhoff, Dennis List, Dion Miller and Jerry Dendinger.

Visitation and a Vigil service were Monday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton, and continued Tuesday, at church, one hour prior to services.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Crofton.

Joseph Michael Tramp III was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Crofton, to Joseph Leo and Romaine (Wieseler) Tramp Jr. Joe grew up in Crofton and graduated from Crofton High School in 1964. He attended college until he joined the U.S. Army on Aug. 31, 1966 until May 31, 1969, serving during the Vietnam War time. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Crofton and built bridges with Elkhorn Construction and then moved to California and continued to work construction until returning to Crofton three years later. Joe then worked as the bar manager at the Chateau Lounge in Yankton, S.D., along with a couple other bars in Yankton. Joe then worked for Bob Eickhoff delivering campers all over the country for eight years. In 2010, he began hauling fuel for Jerry’s Service, Hartington, and had been working for Jerry Dendinger for 13 years, up until his death.

Joe owned half of the Tramp family farm with his brother, Kevin, since 2009. He was a big football fan and loved to gamble and play lottery machines. He liked to socialize, and called a spade a spade. Joe also enjoyed hunting pheasant, deer and coyotes in his spare time.

Joe is survived by his five siblings, Connie Martin, Oceanside, Calif.; Carla Bruder, Yankton, S.D.; Charlotte (Scott) Leonard, Santa Clara, Calif.; Kevin (Lori) Tramp, Crofton; Keith (Jacki) Tramp, Yankton, S.D.; nine nieces and nephews, Zack Prescott, P.J. Martin, Jennifer Leonard, Clint Leonard, Tony Leonard, Cassie (Preston) Mueller, Joey Tramp and fiance (Krissy Kumm), Jack Tramp and Max Tramp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Romaine Tramp Jr.; and brother-in-law, Randy Martin.
