Joan F. (Anderson) Dresden

ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — Joan F. (Anderson) Dresden, 91, Alamogordo, N.M., died May 20, 2020.

Burial of her cremated remains will be at a later date in Laurel.

Joan was born in Dixon County to Clarence and Nora Anderson Oct. 8,1928. She was the fifth child of six siblings. Raised on a farm, she attended a Cedar county school through the eighth grade and continued at Laurel High School. After graduation, she worked at E&W Men’s Clothing Store, Sioux City, Iowa, in the office doing bookkeeping, accounting and secretarial work.

She is the mother of six children from a previous marriage. In 1997, she married her first love, her high school sweetheart, Don Dresden. They made their home in Alamogordo for the next two years, then moved back to Laurel for two years and snowbirded back and forth to New Mexico during the winter months. After selling their house in Laurel, they moved to Alamogordo and bought their retirement home.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband Don; her children, Mike (Linda) Sydow, South Sioux City; Dennis (Marilyn) Sydow, Yankton, S.D.; Nancy (Preston) Nelson, Maskell; Rick (Nancy) Sydow, Newcastle; Kathy (John) Gubbels, Randolph; daughter-in-law, Julie Sydow, Ponca., and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Sydow, in 2011; and a grandson, Ryan Sydow, in 2000.
