Jerdine E. Luebe

PIERCE — Jerdine E. Luebe, 87, Pierce, died June 4, 2019, at Heritage of Bel Air, Norfolk.

Visitation was Sunday at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce.

Services were June 10 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce. The Rev. Gordon Bruce and Joshua Mork officiated.

Burial was in Prospect View Cemetery, rural Pierce.

Casket bearers were Brandon Brown, Tanner Brown, Tyler Hilkemann, Cody Hilkemann, Ben Brickett and Sam Brickett.

Honorary casket bearers were her

granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Stonacek Memorial Chapel, Pierce, was in charge of the arrangements.

Born Nov. 17, 1931, in Pierce, Jerdine was the daughter of Ernest and Inez (Kettler) Buss. She was baptized Dec. 1, 1931, and confirmed April 2, 1944, both at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce. She attended Pierce County rural school until third grade, then went to Zion Parochial school until eighth grade. She graduated from Pierce High School May 1948, and from Wayne State Teachers College in 1975.

She and Delmar “Shadow” Luebe were married by the Rev. E.J. Bernthal June 8, 1953, at Grace Lutheran Church, Wayne. They lived in Pierce. Jerdine taught for 42 years in various rural schools in Pierce and Wayne counties and in Woodland Park. She retired from teaching in 2003 at Woodland Park, rural Norfolk. Delmar died Aug. 29, 2010.

Jerdine enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, cooking and baking and playing cards. She loved spending time with her family.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce; Zion Ladies Aid and Pierce Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Doug (Christina) Luebe, Ponca; two daughters, Margo (Kevin) Brown, Lincoln, and Roxanne (Gary) Hilkemann, Pierce; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Don) Hogendorn, Norfolk; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Inez; her spouse, Delmar; her brothers, Chester and Randy; and a sister, Nina Jones.
