HARTINGTON —Jeanette M. Lammers, 92, Hartington, died Jan. 19, 2024, at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge.

Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 22 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.

Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Scott Arens, Nick Lammers, Jill Domina, Ray Lammers, Mason Sudbeck, Pamela Dykstra, Levi Sudbeck and Chad Lammers.

Visitation and a vigil service were at the Church, and continued Monday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Jeanette Mary was born Feb. 8, 1931, to Hugo and Anna (Wortmann) Suing, St. Helena. She grew up in rural St. Helena and attended rural elementary school there as well as her first two years of high school. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School, Hartington in 1948. Jeanette lived in Yankton, S.D., for a while and moved back to the farm after her father died. She helped take care of her mother with her siblings prior to her m arriage to Donavon Cyril Lammers, Feb. 5, 1951, in St. Helena. After her marriage, she and Donavon lived outside of Fordyce, and then rented a farm near Wynot. They moved to what would be their family farm south of Hartin gton in 1955. She and Donavon lived there until December 1981, when they moved into Hartington. Donavon died Nov. 2, 1993, at the age of 64.

Jeanette was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and had an hour of adoration for many years. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America, Legion of Mary and the Pink Sisters Auxiliary.

She was a volunteer at the Holy Trinity school library and worked in the Holy Trinity school cafeteria for many years.

She was also a member of the Sunnybrook Ladies Club, liked to play cards, read, crochet and do embroidery work.

Jeanette always raised a huge garden and canned and froze her produce to feed her family. She always enjoyed her kids and grand children and attending their activities through the years.

Jeanette is survived by her seven children, Charlotte (Dale) Arens, Crofton; Ron (Karen) Lammers, Hartington; Marlene (Larry) Domina, Coleridge; Joe (Kathy) Lammers, Hartington; Terri (Sid) Sudbeck, Hadar; Peg (Marcel) Kathol, Irene, S.D.; Sue Lammers, Lincoln; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Joyce Albrecht, Menominee; Margaret Ann Schmidt, Menominee; Rosemary Guenther, Crofton; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Thoene, Hartington; Alice Lammers, Pincher Creek, Alberta, Canada; and Jean Marie Lammers, Hartington.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donavon; grandsons, John Lammers and Curtis Domina; great-grandson, Spencer Lammers; three brothers, Cyril (Marilyn) Suing, Henry “Hank” (Georgine) Suing, Gerald (Joan) Suing: and brothers-in-law, Floyd Albrecht, Stanley Schmidt and Clarence Guenther.
