HARTINGTON — Jeaneen Ann Kuehn, 80, Hartington, died peacefully Jan. 18, 2023, at her residence under Hospice care.

Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 21 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Owen Korte officiating.

Burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.

Visitation and a Vigil service were Friday at church. Visitation continued Saturday, one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers were Riley Kuehn, Josh Becker, Zach Becker, Patrick Kuehn, Bryon Miller and Troy Fischer.

Honorary pallbearers were the Class of 1960, and her many good friends of the Class of 1959.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Jeaneen Ann was born April 9, 1942, in Hartington, to Theadore Roosevelt and Lucille Wilhelmina (Hirschman) Miller. She grew up in Hartington and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1960. After high school, Jeaneen went to dental hygienist school in Minneapolis, Minn. She worked for Dr. Dendinger in Yankton, S.D., for six months prior to marrying James Alois Kuehn August 16, 1961, in Hartington. Jeaneen and Jim owned and operated the Chief Bar in Hartington from 1965-1970. In 1972, they built Kuehn’s Package Liquor and operated that until they retired Oct. 1, 2001.

Jeaneen was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and held an hour of Adoration for over 50 years. She belonged to the Christian Mothers, Hartington Chamber of Commerce, Cedar Catholic Booster Club, and the 300 Club.

Jeaneen loved to golf and was the Woman’s Hartington City Champion in 1971 and was runner-up several times. She was so proud of having three generations of City golf champions in her family – son, Gary, and grandsons, Josh Becker and Riley Kuehn. She loved quilting, traveling, flowers, horse racing and her girlfriends’ Monday morning coffee group and Wednesday evening group. Carla was her golf partner for many years in the woman’s league. She also organized their class reunions for 1960 and 1955 (Jim’s class). Jeaneen cherished her time with her family and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jeaneen is survived by her two children, Nancy Becker, Hartington; Gary (Rachele) Kuehn, Hartington; five grandchildren, Josh (Megan) Becker, O’Neill; Holly (Eric) Dickes, Fordyce; Zach (Lisa) Becker, Hartington; Riley Kuehn, Norfolk; and Annika Kuehn, Hartington; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom “Satch” Miller, Hartington, and Neil (Lonna) Miller, Bloomfield; sister, Linda Ulrich, Hartington; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim, May 26, 2012, at the age of 75; and an infant sister.
