Janet Arlene Huss was born June 10, 1946, in Laurel, to Axel and June (Ruge) Hansen. She grew up on the family farm east of Hartington. Janet attended District 47 Pleasant View Grade School and graduated from Hartington High School in 1964. She was a selfless, loving, and caring woman who always put family and others before herself. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw and word puzzles, baking, reading, and keeping her home neat and orderly. Janet also loved her popcorn, Smarties, and Butterfinger candy bars. Janet was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. Janet is survived by her husband, Robert Huss, Hartington; daughter, Cindy Huss, Yankton, S.D.; son, Michael Huss, Hartington; grandson, Aaron Petersen (fiancé, Jessica, and her sons, Tate and Mason), Hartington; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Petersen, Hartington; sister, Judy (Dave) VanHook, Tucson, Ariz.; brother, Larry (Micki) Hansen, South Sioux City; brother, Jim Hansen, Huntington, Texas; and many other cherished family members.
