James Frederick Lentz

COLERIDGE — James Frederick Lentz, 71, Coleridge, died at his residence Nov. 14, 2018, due to lymphoma.

Visitation and a Vigil service were Sunday at the church, and continued Monday at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial was Nov. 19 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, with Rev. David Liewer officiating.

Burial was in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Coleridge. Military honors were provided by the Coleridge American Legion Post 114 and the American Legion Riders.

Pallbearers were David Black, Jody

Stark, Ryan Vesely, Rane Vesely, Kyle Lentz, Mike Welch and Roger Derickson.

Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Lentz, Jeff Lentz, Bob Von-DerOhe and Warren Stark.

The Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, assisted with the arrangements.

James Frederick Lentz was born Dec. 31 1946, in Yankton, S.D., to Irvin Ronald and Cecelia Marie (Burbach) Lentz. He grew up on a farm east of Hartington and graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in 1965. Jim served in the U.S. Army from March 28, 1966-March 10, 1969, where he was stationed in Germany. Upon his discharge he attended and graduated from Southeast Community College, Milford, in electronics. Jim married Glenna Joy Paro Aug. 17, 1974, in Kearney. Jim worked at Top Hat Furniture in Kearney and then at Blevins doing electronic repair. In 1979, he worked in Grand Island at Skagway’s for 10 years. Jim then worked maintenance for McCain’s Food from 1989 until he retired. He and Glenna moved to Coleridge six years ago.

Jim was a former member of the Eagles Club in Grand Island. Family was always his priority and he enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He loved to fix and repair things on the farm and attend to the garden there. Jim was meticulous in everything he did. He would spend hours tinkering with old radios and other electronics. Jim had two dogs, Bennie & Chester that he loved and would share his ice cream with.

Jim is survived by his wife, Glenna, Coleridge; three daughters and spouses, Katrina and Martin Martinez, Belmond, Iowa; Dawn and Ryan Didio, Belmond, Iowa; Andrea Lentz, Grand Island; eight grandchildren, Ken, Allison, Vanessa, Karina, Lesley, Martin, Alexys and Gavin; one great-grandchild on the way, Jamie Elizabeth; two sisters Muriel (Warren) Stark, Bloomfield, and Melanie (Bob) Von-DerOhe, Norfolk; two brothers, Rodney (Kathy) Lentz, Hartington, and Jeff (Julie) Lentz, Hartington; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenny and Jerry Lentz.
