OMAHA — James F. “Jim” Stevens, 64, Omaha, formerly of Hartington, died Oct. 12, 2018, at the Josie Harper Hospice House, from cancer.
Funeral Services are pending at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
James F. Stevens was born Oct. 5, 1954, in Omaha. His parents were Fredric “Fritz” and Norma Stevens, Hartington. Jim graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in May 1972, and graduated from Wayne State College four years later, in 1976. Jim moved to Ft. Wayne, Ind., where he was the golf pro for 10 years.
Jim was a member of the Cedar Catholic Golf Team, as a freshman, that won the Nebraska State Class B Golf Tournament. Jim was a State Golf qualifier each year while in High School. He was also the Hartington City Golf Champion for nine out of ten years. He gave lessons to many hopeful golf enthusiast starting in his high school years. After 15 years as a golf pro, Jim moved to Omaha, where he started South Omaha Vacuums, which he operated until his health deteriorated and prevented him from continuing.
Jim is survived by his brother, Tom Stevens, Yankton, S.D., and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fritz and Norma Stevens, and aunts and uncles.
