J. “Teddy” Wuebben

HARTINGTON — Theodora J. “Teddy” Wuebben, 101, Hartington, and formerly of Wynot, died June 4, 2019, at the Hartington Care and Rehabilitation Center, Hartington.

Visitation and a vigil service were June 6 at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot,

Funeral Services were June 7 at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot, with Rev. Eric Olsen officiating.

Burial was in the Sts. Philip and James Cemetery, St. James. Arrangements were under the direction of the

Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Pallbearers were Eric Wuebben, Kyle Wuebben, Heath Wuebben, Michael Wuebben, Alex Wuebben, Josh Pavlish, and Vince Colford.

Honorary pallbearers were Theodora’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Theodora Johanna Wuebben was born May 22, 1918, in Bow Valley, to Anton and Mary (Schnuetigen) Wortmann. She attended Bunker Hill Country School, south of Bow Valley, and lived at home until her marriage to Edgar J. Wuebben May 12, 1948. They had six children. Theodora and Edgar lived and farmed in the St. James area all their lives. They were married for 61 years until Edgar’s death in 2009. In September 2015, at the age of 97, Theodora moved to the nursing home in Hartington.

Theodora loved gardening, canning, growing flowers, crocheting, quilting, sewing and belonged to several card clubs. She was a lifelong member of the Sts. Philip and James Catholic Church and was part of the St. James Altar Society. Theodora was also a member of the Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses, Marlene and Kenneth Swanson, Hubbard; LaDonna and Mike Fuhrer, Orange City, Fla.; Allen and Terri Wuebben, Norfolk; Vernon and Rose Wuebben, Crofton; Donovan Wuebben, Wynot; and Terry and Janet Wuebben,Crofton; brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Irene Wortmann; sister-in-law, Anna Wortmann; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edgar, Nov. 4, 2009; brothers and sisters, Elvira Kathol, Eleanor Pinkelman, Rudy Wortmann, Fr. Ed Wortmann, August Wortmann and Joie Olinger; and three grandchildren.
