Irene E. Hohneke

COLERIDGE — Irene E. Hohneke, 92, Coleridge, formerly of Hartington, died Sept. 24, 2018, at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge. Visitation was Sept. 27 at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington, and continued Friday one hour prior to services. Funeral Services were Sept. 28 at the Wintz Funeral Home, with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial was at the Hartington City Cemetery, Hartington. Pallbearers were Gerald Konken, Cliff Peck, Gail Konken, Chuck Hochstein and Sherwood Hall. Irene Elsie Hohneke was born Feb. 5, 1926, in Hartington, to Theodore and Henrietta (Selle) Hohneke. She grew up and lived in the Hartington – Coleridge area most all of her life. Irene worked for many years at the Hartington Public School lunch program as a cook. She married Henry Hohneke Sept. 7, 1947, in Hartington. She later took care of her brother, Fredrick, until his death. Irene’s husband died Dec. 8, 1980, at the age of 74. Irene was a homemaker, gardener, baker and quilter. She enjoyed collecting owls and loved her flowers and houseplants. Irene really enjoyed bird watching and had a good sense of humor. Irene is survived by her three children, daughters, Linda and husband, Sherwood Hall, Laurel, Md.; Karen Hohneke, Hastings; and son, Russell Hohneke, Casper, Wyo. She was preceded in death by her four brothers, Clarence, Theodore, Ewald and Fritz (Frederick) Hohneke.
